Cuándo te llega el mensaje / When you get the message

Te mandamos un único mensaje al día, sobre las 17:23 hora española. Puede haber pequeños retrasos puntuales (de unos minutos, y muy raramente más) según la carga de los servicios que usamos por detrás. Si eres PRO y no quieres esperar a esa hora, puedes escribirle /hoy al bot en cualquier momento para que te reenvíe el pronóstico bajo demanda — usamos un caché que se actualiza cada 4 horas, así que la respuesta es instantánea (no es una previsión al segundo, pero sí de las últimas horas). Si pides /hoy y el atardecer de hoy ya ha pasado sin buenas condiciones, en vez de dejarte con un mensaje vacío te mostramos directamente los mejores sitios previstos para el atardecer de mañana.
We send you a single message per day, at around 17:23 Spanish time. There may be occasional small delays (a few minutes, and very rarely more) depending on the load of the services we use behind the scenes. If you're PRO and don't want to wait until then, you can send /hoy to the bot at any time to get the forecast on demand — we use a cache that refreshes every 4 hours, so the reply is instant (not second-by-second fresh, but within the last few hours). If you send /hoy after today's sunset has already happened with no good conditions, instead of leaving you with an empty message we show you the best spots forecast for tomorrow's sunset.

Al darte de alta eliges qué categorías te interesan — atardecer, pernocta, amanecer y/o surf — una, varias o todas. Puedes cambiarlo cuando quieras desde el panel instalado o escribiendo /intereses al bot de Telegram.
When you sign up you choose which categories interest you — sunset, overnight, sunrise and/or surf — one, several, or all of them. You can change this anytime by sending /intereses to the installed dashboard or with /intereses in the Telegram bot.

La fuente de datos / The data source

Cada día consultamos Open-Meteo, un servicio meteorológico gratuito, para cada mirador, playa y sitio de pernocta: nubosidad a distintas alturas (baja, media y alta), viento, visibilidad, probabilidad de lluvia y humedad, a la hora exacta del atardecer y del amanecer de ese día.
Every day we query Open-Meteo, a free weather service, for every viewpoint, beach and overnight spot: cloud cover at different heights (low, mid and high), wind, visibility, chance of rain and humidity, at the exact time of that day's sunset and sunrise.

Cómo puntuamos el atardecer y el amanecer / How we score sunset and sunrise

Las nubes bajas (cerca del horizonte) son las que de verdad tapan el sol, así que si hay muchas, descartamos el sitio directamente. Las nubes medias y altas son las que dan color al cielo — ni un cielo 100% despejado ni uno muy nublado dan los mejores colores; el punto óptimo suele estar en un término medio (nuestro sistema usa un 30-70% de nube media/alta como el rango ideal). Por eso etiquetamos cada sitio como:
Low clouds (near the horizon) are the ones that actually block the sun, so if there are a lot, we discard the spot entirely. Mid and high clouds are what gives the sky its color — neither a 100% clear sky nor a very cloudy one gives the best colors; the sweet spot is usually somewhere in between (our system uses 30-70% mid/high cloud as the ideal range). That's why we label each spot as:

• 🌟 ¡Óptimo! / Optimal! — horizonte despejado y color en el cielo
• 👍 Buen cielo / Good sky — condiciones aceptables, sin ser perfectas

Una puntuación de 0 a 10 para atardecer y pernocta / A 0-10 score for sunset and overnight spots

Además de la etiqueta, en atardecer y pernocta te damos una puntuación de 0 a 10 que combina todo lo anterior en un solo número: cuánto de despejado está el horizonte, cuánta nube media/alta hay (y si está en el rango ideal), el viento, la visibilidad, la probabilidad de lluvia y la humedad. Si hay calima intensa, la puntuación nunca puede pasar de 7,5, aunque el resto de valores sean perfectos — para que un número alto signifique siempre una recomendación de verdad. Solo puntuamos atardecer y pernocta (es la misma tarde o noche, la previsión es fiable); amanecer y surf son para la mañana siguiente, con más horas de margen y por tanto menos fiables, así que ahí nos quedamos solo con la etiqueta, para no dar una falsa sensación de precisión.
Besides the label, for sunset and overnight spots we also give you a 0-10 score that combines everything above into a single number: how clear the horizon is, how much mid/high cloud there is (and whether it's in the ideal range), wind, visibility, chance of rain, and humidity. If there's intense haze, the score can never go above 7.5, even if every other value is perfect — so a high number always means a genuine recommendation. We only score sunset and overnight spots (it's the same evening or night, so the forecast is reliable); sunrise and surf are for the following morning, with more hours of lead time and therefore less reliable, so there we stick to the qualitative label only, to avoid a false sense of precision.

Humedad y calima / Humidity and haze

Además, avisamos de otras dos cosas que no cambian la etiqueta ¡Óptimo!/Buen cielo, pero sí pueden influir en lo que veas: la humedad del aire (si es muy alta, los colores pueden verse menos vivos) y la calima o polvo en suspensión. La calima, en niveles moderados, puede intensificar los colores del cielo — pero solo lo avisamos si el sitio ya es "¡Óptimo!"; en niveles altos, en cambio, reduce la nitidez y lo avisamos siempre. Como la calima es un fenómeno regional (afecta a zonas de decenas de kilómetros, no a un mirador en concreto), consultamos un único valor representativo por región en vez de uno por cada mirador.
We also warn about two more things that don't change the Optimal!/Good sky label, but can still affect what you'll see: air humidity (if very high, colors may look less vivid) and haze or airborne dust. Haze, at moderate levels, can intensify the sky's colors — but we only mention this if the spot is already "Optimal!"; at high levels, however, it reduces sharpness and we always mention that. Since haze is a regional phenomenon (affecting areas of tens of kilometers, not a single viewpoint), we query a single representative value per region instead of one per viewpoint.

Seguimos al sol de verdad, no un punto fijo / We track the real sun, not a fixed point

El sol no se pone (ni sale) siempre por el mismo sitio del horizonte: va cambiando de posición a lo largo del año según la fecha y la latitud (en Cantabria, por ejemplo, la puesta de sol se mueve entre el suroeste en invierno y el noroeste en verano). Cada día calculamos ese ángulo exacto — el azimut — tanto para el atardecer como para el amanecer, en vez de asumir siempre la misma dirección.
The sun doesn't always set (or rise) at the same point on the horizon: its position shifts throughout the year depending on the date and latitude (in Cantabria, for example, sunset moves between the southwest in winter and the northwest in summer). Every day we calculate that exact angle — the azimuth — for both sunset and sunrise, instead of assuming a fixed direction.

El banco de nubes en el horizonte marino / The sea fog bank check

A veces el cielo justo encima del mirador está despejado, pero hay niebla o nubes bajas más lejos, mar adentro, que tapan el sol antes de que llegue al horizonte — muy típico en la costa cantábrica. Por eso, para cada mirador costero, usamos ese azimut calculado (el de esa fecha concreta) y consultamos también el tiempo en 3 puntos situados a 50, 100 y 150 km de distancia en esa misma dirección — tanto para el atardecer como para el amanecer. Si hay nubes bajas en cualquiera de esos 3 puntos, te avisamos, aunque el propio mirador tenga buena puntuación.
Sometimes the sky right above the viewpoint is clear, but there's fog or low cloud further out to sea that blocks the sun before it reaches the horizon — very common on the Cantabrian coast. That's why, for every coastal viewpoint, we use that calculated azimuth (for that specific date) and also check the weather at 3 points located 50, 100 and 150 km away in that same direction — for both sunset and sunrise. If there's low cloud there, we warn you, even if the viewpoint itself scores well.

Pernocta y fase lunar / Overnight camping and moon phase

Para los sitios de pernocta valoramos poca nube y poco viento durante la noche. También te contamos la fase lunar de esa noche, y si el sitio está lejos de luces artificiales y hay poca luna, te lo señalamos como buena noche para ver estrellas.
For overnight spots we look for low cloud and low wind during the night. We also tell you that night's moon phase, and if the spot is far from artificial lights and the moon isn't too bright, we flag it as a good night for stargazing.

Sitios cercanos por ubicación (solo PRO) / Nearby spots by location (PRO only)

Si eres PRO, puedes mandarle tu ubicación al bot de Telegram (el botón de compartir ubicación, sin escribir nada) y te responde al instante con los 3 sitios más cercanos, hasta 80 km a la redonda, de cada categoría que tengas activa en /intereses (atardecer, pernocta, amanecer y/o surf) — con toda la misma información que en el mensaje diario (nubosidad, viento, avisos...), no solo el nombre y la distancia. Los km que te indica son en línea recta (la distancia directa entre tu ubicación y el sitio, no la distancia por carretera). Como usa los datos ya calculados en el último refresco (se actualiza cada 4 horas), la respuesta es inmediata. Si en esos 80 km ningún sitio tiene condiciones realmente buenas hoy, te da igualmente los mejores disponibles, dejando claro que ninguno es ideal, para que nunca te quedes sin ninguna opción.
If you're PRO, you can send your location to the Telegram bot (the share-location button, no need to type anything) and it instantly replies with the 3 nearest spots, within 80 km, for every category you have active in /intereses (sunset, overnight, sunrise and/or surf) — with the same full information as the daily message (cloud cover, wind, notices...), not just the name and distance. The distances shown are straight-line (the direct distance between your location and the spot, not driving distance). Since it uses the data from the latest refresh (updated every 4 hours), the reply is instant. If none of the spots within 80 km have genuinely good conditions today, it still gives you the best available, making clear that none are ideal, so you're never left with nothing.

Surf / Surf

Consultamos la previsión marina (altura y periodo de ola) para la mañana siguiente en cada playa, y las clasificamos entre mar plano, olas suaves de iniciación, buenas olas, u olas grandes solo para nivel avanzado.
We check the marine forecast (wave height and period) for the following morning at each beach, and classify them as flat sea, gentle beginner waves, good waves, or big waves for advanced level only.

De dónde salen los sitios / Where the spots come from

Partimos de fuentes geográficas abiertas y estructuradas para localizar posibles aparcamientos, miradores, áreas recreativas, playas y otros lugares de interés. Después cruzamos los candidatos con cartografía, información pública, normativa, reseñas y comunidades camper. No publicamos automáticamente todo lo que aparece en esas fuentes: eliminamos duplicados y lugares claramente inadecuados, buscamos una cobertura territorial útil y revisamos especialmente el acceso en vehículo y las posibles restricciones de pernocta. Priorizamos opciones gratuitas —incluidos parkings públicos— sin limitar la selección a áreas oficiales de autocaravanas.
We start with open, structured geographic sources to locate potential car parks, viewpoints, recreational areas, beaches, and other places of interest. We then cross-check candidates against maps, public information, regulations, reviews, and camper communities. We do not automatically publish everything found in those sources: we remove duplicates and clearly unsuitable places, seek useful geographic coverage, and pay particular attention to vehicle access and possible overnight restrictions. We prioritise free options —including public car parks— without limiting the selection to official motorhome areas.

La automatización sirve para descubrir y ordenar candidatos, no para certificar que un lugar sea legal o seguro. Las decisiones dudosas se revisan antes de publicarse y cada spot puede incluir una aclaración o advertencia propia. Aun así, los accesos, señales y ordenanzas cambian: compruébalos siempre al llegar. Si encuentras una barrera, prohibición, peligro o dato incorrecto, puedes avisarnos desde Telegram con /incidencia para que lo revisemos.
Automation is used to discover and organise candidates, not to certify that a place is legal or safe. Uncertain cases are reviewed before publication, and each spot may include its own note or warning. Even so, access roads, signs, and local rules can change: always check them when you arrive. If you find a barrier, restriction, hazard, or incorrect information, you can report it through Telegram with /incidencia so we can review it.

Una nota honesta / An honest note

Ninguna previsión meteorológica es perfecta, y algunos avisos (normativa de aparcamiento, reservas necesarias, peligros conocidos) los mantenemos a mano y pueden quedarse desactualizados. Úsalo como una ayuda para decidir, no como la última palabra — mira siempre el cielo y la zona con tus propios ojos.
No weather forecast is perfect, and some notices (parking regulations, required bookings, known hazards) are maintained by hand and may become outdated. Use this as a helpful aid for deciding, not as the final word — always check the sky and the area with your own eyes.
